Night Nav

THE PROBLEM

Planning a night out seems like a waste of time and money after you attend a disappointing event. Night Nav is the go-to app for everyone who has ever wanted to go out with friends at night but had no idea what events were taking place. In an effort to satisfy everyone's interests, we present events from categories that correspond to your preferences.

THE SOLUTION

I developed a nightlife app that will allow you to find local events and organize your nights out with friends. Unlike previous apps, Night Nav will include events for other nighttime pursuits as well, and not simply concerts, clubs, and bars. Additionally, there is a friends page where you may make private events for your friends, see private events hosted by friends, and find events that friends are going to. In order to make scheduling your journey to events easier, Uber integration will also be accessible.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

I examined the four most widely used apps for discovering nightlife events. I discovered that none of them offered the ability to filter events by particular categories and interests or see ratings of specific events. This then became my opportunity for the solution.

USER INTERVIEWS + RESEARCH QUESTIONS

My interviewees were twice as likely to attend an event that was suggested by a friend.

I conducted interviews with 8 individuals who love to go out at night. The next questions were directed at identifying patterns in how people discover events and select which ones to attend. I then used affinity mapping to arrange my data.

  • Paint me a picture of what your typical night looks like when you go out.
  • The types of activities you engage in and the types of places you visit
  • What do you like and dislike most about nightlife?
  • Tell me about the last time you went out. Where did you go out to? What led you to that decision?
  • How do you/you and your friends plan your nights out?
  • Do you prefer to book events online or offline?

THE MAIN INSIGHT

Many people have problems discovering events in a variety of event categories that are unrelated to clubs or bars.

I also discovered that most individuals want to go to multiple events a night, but they typically have trouble finding more than one. Finding a reputable event is also their biggest obstacle when planning a night out.
